Pilates is unlike any form of exercise I’ve experienced.
The type of Pilates I teach requires focus and concentration, a dedication to proper form, and a willingness to try something new.
Pilates is highly effectlive, meaning progress happens quickly.
Every session you build strength and flexibility throughout your entire body.
You leave class feeling awakened, refreshed, and aligned.

The only requirement is that you can move safely, freely and comfortably.
Wide-legged yoga pants aren’t recommended for reformer work - the material can get caught in springs.
Bare feet is fine. Grip socks are fine but not required*. Regular socks might be slippery.
*All of the equipment is thoroughly cleaned between every class with anti-microbial spray.

The two forms of exercise/movement pair extremely well together because they work your body in different ways.
Yoga tends toward a more meditative, pose-holding flexion. Yoga has a deep spiritual center that speaks to so many practitioners.
Pilates focuses heavily on building spinal strength, flexibility and health by building up your core, or Power House as we call it.
Pilates can also include a lot of equipment and additional apparatus to help us work our bodies safely and effectively. For example, the reformer is a support before it is used as a challenge.

Studio Curran is located in the downtown area of Worcester, MA in a historic mill building from the 19th century.
Jenn Curran is a third-generation instructor and teaches the Contrology method, Joseph Pilates’s original work.
I focus deeply on performing each exercise with control and precision. The work is challenging, but never punishing.
People usually leave one of my sessions or classes feeling like they had an espresso rather than needing a hot tub and a lie down.
Studio Curran is not the version of Pilates you may have seen on social media. Our work together focuses on building strength, balance, flexibility, and hopefully longevity. Its not the type of thing that gets a lot of clicks. Our work is the doing and not saying, the head down, one foot in front of the other type of work that simply gets the job done.
